Lost orders since moving to single page checkout

Hi,

Since moving to the single page checkout in Shopify we have seen a ~30% variance between Shopify and GA4.

We had been using a GTM based solution and moved this over to web pixel, but saw the same drop off between both.

We installed SRA as we have seen good results in the past on other sites, but we are still seeing a similar level of lost orders in GA4.

The purchases metric in GA4 match the converted session metric in Shopify pretty well (95%+), but it is the orders and revenue metrics where we see the variance.

Any suggestions on potential cause or steps to diagnose further?

Thanks,

Kev M

Is the issue that the order counts are accurate but the revenue is off? Or the order counts are underreporting?

We can upgrade you to a paid server-side plan, that would certainly resolve the issue. But we can debug the client-side purchase event first if you like.

Both order purchases and revenue in GA4 is off vs orders and revenue in
Shopify. But purchases does match the Converted Sessions metric in Shopify.

Right now we want to get this as close as we can client-side before we look
at the server side option.

Are they underreporting or over reporting?

Under by 30%, from what we can see the issue is linked to when the site
sends people to the old style Shopify confirmation page and has declined
analytics cookies.

I see. Yes. If the user declines cookie consent then we can’t send the purchase event through on our free client-side only plans.

We can send these server-side. That’s part of our paid plan. Here’s the pricing. Let me know if you want me to set that up for you.
